The Intensive Program is a category of classes rather than an actual class itself. The Intensive Program course path consists of taking 8 sequential classes, E010 through E080. The main feature of the Intensive Program is its frequency: students attend class one day a week for four hours each day, ANY day of the week. Therefore, the eight classes within the Intensive Program can be completed in one year.
Since the HAI conducts classes all year round, any given academic year consists of four trimesters: Jan-Mar, Apr-June, July-Sept, Oct-Dec. The eight courses of the Intensive Program are therefore completed in 1 year, with E010 – E040 completed in the first half of the year (or 2 consecutive trimesters), and E050 – E080 completed in the second half of the year.
At the end of the eight-class Intensive cycle, you may receive a transcript, which is available upon request. In order to achieve a Certificate, you must have successfully completed the eight classes of the Intensive cycle. Then you will be eligible to continue on to the four Advanced Certificate Classes. These are mandatory classes that must be completed successfully in order to obtain a Certificate.
The Intensive Program uses the American English File series of textbooks.
